Week 9 Reading Notes Part B Chinese Folk Tales

Image
Chinese Folktales Part B Week 9 Readings Photo by Wikimedia Commons The Little Hunting Dog I really loved this story.  I was so sad at the end when the scholar lost his little dog! I think if I were to attempt to adapt this story, I'd make the dog live and eventually grow big enough to become a real dog.   Fox-Fire I really enjoyed this story, too!  I like that the fox eventually got his treasure back! I don't think I'd be too interested in adapting this story, though.   The Talking Silver Foxes I didn't like this story so much.  The language wasn't very engaging and I got bored pretty easily.   Retribution I loved this story.  I think I'd like to do an adaptation of this! It would be so cool to see the water carrier in his first life before he was reborn.  I was so happy when the story came full circle!  The Night on the Battlefield I thought this story was really boring, but it could be interesting to rewrite

Biography: A Day Gone Horribly Awry

Photo by WikiMedia The wind flew through my hair.  I had never been so tall! I could practically touch the fluorescent lights that blinded me as they dangled precariously from the ceiling high above. I hovered above the world and for just a moment, I could do anything. At eight years old, on a sunny April afternoon, I was living.  Truly living.  Well... For an eight year old, anyways.   After finishing up my school day, I had walked myself down to the after school care classroom, and promptly finished my snack.   All I wanted was to get to the small gym that doubled as a cafeteria because Fridays were special at after school care.  Fridays were free play day.   I grabbed the hand of the fourth grader next to me.  Sara was always nice.  She didn't have many friends in her own grade, but I didn't mind.  It meant that she'd always be willing to play with me!  We entered the school gymnasium and the smell of floor cleaner and rubber dodge balls assaul

Week 8 Progress

Photo by PxFuel Looking Back: Honestly, I've really slacked throughout the first half of the class. I'm not where I need to be point-wise.  I'm not happy with the amount of extra credit I've attempted.  I'm really terrible with time management.  Looking Forward:  I really want to stick to my timing schedule better in the future.  I'm liking the work I turn in, but life gets super hectic (especially second semester senior year) and I need to make this class a bit more of a priority.  I really want to work on my schedule more than anything.

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

Cheezburger Feedback In:  I'm enjoying the feedback I've been receiving.  Overall, it's been super positive which is a confidence boost, for sure! I wish that I could receive a bit more criticism, however.  I'm not perfect grammatically and I'm always looking to learn so I'd definitely be open to corrections!  Feedback Out:  I'm a bit uncomfortable giving feedback at this point.  I don't like to potentially hurt someone's feelings and writing can be a place where people really bare their souls and I'd hate to accidentally tear someone down.  I've been using examples to help correct some things I've noticed and I like that approach a lot.  I think it's super helpful to be able to see an example of a different way to write something laid out in front of me.   Blog Comments:  I think it's really hard to get to know people in any sort of online forum.  I'm such an in-person person.  I think I've re

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Photo by NeedPix Reading and Writing Review Week Overall, I'm really proud of a lot of the writing I've done in this class.  Reading is, and always has been, very easy for me.  I'm always eager to read more and I frequently misuse my time to read for fun when I should by studying for other classes.  It's nice to have reading assignments that are actually kind of fun for a class.  As a senior history major, I'm almost rethinking and wishing I would've listened to my mom's advice from freshman year and majored in English because I love reading and writing.  The assignment are good for me so far, I just have horrible time management skills and that's been by biggest struggle.   I'm pretty happy with both my blog and my website.  I don't need anything fancy and I think they're both cute and pretty! I think in the future I'll be using less centered formatting.  I like the left alignment better now that I'm farther into the
